Things to Do (And Not Do) During Tonight's Full Corn Moon

Tonight, Wednesday September 2nd at 1:22am EST will be a full moon. This full moon is commonly referred to as the “Corn Moon”, because traditionally it symbolizes the ideal time to harvest essential crops. It often also is known as the Harvest Moon, which is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox. That first day of fall is September 22, meaning the next full moon on October 1 will be the Harvest Moon.

So what are some good things to do (and not do) during a full moon? Keep reading!

Take time to cleanse your physical and mental energy
Taking a bath, smudging your house or even watching a nonsensical movie or TV show allows you to unwind and relax yourself. The full moon is full of both light and dark energy, so it is a good idea let go of any of that built-up energy you no longer feel like harnessing, capturing or otherwise holding onto. Take advantage of the energy that the full moon offers and take time in meditation for introspection. Full Moon is a time when emotions come to the surface, so take note of what thoughts keep appearing and use your breath to promote feelings of calm and stillness.

Don’t rush into anything
Because of the energy that comes with the full moon, it is likely that you too will feel extremely energized. Now isn’t the time to start a new project or goal, but it never hurts to keep a journal of your ideas. Instead, focus more on your current projects and goals.

Charge those crystals!
Did you know that the full moon phase is the best moment of the month and lunar cycle to charge your crystals? Simply leave them outside your back door, on your garden table, on your window sill or if it’s not possible to leave them in direct moonlight you can keep them inside your house by a glass window.

Manifest something new
Take a pencil and write on some paper “I manifest…” and then write your wish, goal or whatever it is that you want to manifest. Sit with the words on the paper in meditation for as short or as long as you wish. Place the paper in the moonlight overnight, on the windowsill or outside by your cleansing crystals. The next night while the full moonlight is still bright, burn your paper and release your wish to the universe.

Don’t overwork or stress
The full moon is meant to be a celebratory time, but with all the energy it stirs up, it's easy to overdo it. Avoid getting stressed or overworking yourself. And don't worry about doing all of the full moon rituals perfectly! The intention behind your actions is what matters most.
